January 2, 2012: Technique
This will be a workshop focusing on the fundamental techniques of Ashtanga yoga practice that are often overlooked. When practiced correctly, these techniques help to bring the practitioner to a more meditative state of awareness. While most students focus on the achievement of the external asana, this workshop will on those internal aspects of the practice.
January 3, 2012: Yoga Sutras Philosophy, Chanting
This session will focus on the 1% theory that grounds our yoga practice. While actual practice is perhaps most important, without remembrance of the philosophical underpinnings of yoga, it is possible that our practice will never deepen to a more full realisation of what is meant by the word 'yoga'. In particular we shall recite and look at the meaning of Patanjali's Yoga Sutras. All questions are welcome! At the end of the class, Sonja will show a short traditional Indian dance performance.
