Mark Robberds

Mark has dedicated himself to Ashtanga yoga since 1997. He has studied with Ashtanga Yoga guru, Sri K Pattahbi Jois of Mysore, India, since 1999 and has completed a 5 year apprenticeship with Eileen Hall of Sydney's Ashtanga Yoga Moves. Mark recently completed the K. Pattabhi Jois Ashtanga Yoga Institute (KPJAYI) teacher training in Mysore and is authorized to teach the Intermediate series. He is an Advanced student of Guruji and Sharath.
Now an established international yoga teacher (Australia, Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand, USA, Costa Rica, Bali, Sri Lanka, India), Mark wishes to share the teachings of Ashtanga Yoga in a way that inspires people to develop a love for the practice so that their inner light can shine. For the last 5 years he has been taking time out from full-time teaching and going deeper into his own yoga studies and his passion and love for surfing, music and travel.

Growing up around open minded parents exposed me to Yoga at a very early age. My first Yoga Classes were with Tim Miller a family friend who was teaching Yoga to a small group of kids in 1984. We moved to Hawaii in 1985 for a slower paced lifestyle. There was a strong group of Ashtanga practicaners living there. My parents devotion to Ashtanga inspired me to learn. In 2000 Pattabhi Jois was on Tour in Hawaii once again. That year I decided to attend classes with my parents. Since then I have been practicing in Mysore every year with Guruji and Sharath Ragaswamy. I have been authorized by Pattabhi Jois to teach the Ashtanga method as taught at AYRI (Ashtanga Yoga Research Institute) in Mysore, India.

He became one of Ashtanga Yoga’s Senior Certified Teachers, traveled around the world living with and filming Pattabhi Jois and his family, and produced ‘R. Sharath’s Ashtanga Yoga Primary Series DVD’ available at www.ashtangaproductions.com. Dominic is in the film ‘Guru’ by Robert Wilkins and you can see him along with a small group of other senior students doing Pattabhi Jois’s only Advanced Series led classes in the US

Jason Stein will be covering all of Tarik's classes while he is away in Mysore. This is Jason's 2nd time to Japan and 2nd time at Mysore Tokyo. Jason has been practicing ashtanga yoga for 10 years. Dominic Corigliano introduced him to the system, after which he spent six years in daily practice with Tim Miller in Encinitas, California. Tim was the first Westerner certified to teach ashtanga by Sri K. Pattabhi Jois, and he assisted Tim in various classes for several years. He completed his primary series teacher training in 2003 and intermediate series teacher training in 2008. Jason has also spent eight months practicing the yoga with Pattabhi Jois and his grandson Sharath in Mysore, India.

Essaouira is one of the most beautiful cities in all of North Africa and for that matter the world. This is the home town of my Moroccan family and where my father lived all of his life. I tend to go nearly every year and have decided to make a Mysore Morocco starting this year. Essaouira has beautiful beaches, traditional moroccan style riads and hotels, amazing multi-cultural cuisine and fabulous cafes to spend the day talking, reading or just watching people walk by. How to get to Essaouira-
Fly directly to Marrakech instead of Casablanca. Marrakech is a much
more beautiful city and it is only 2 hours away from Essaouira.
Depending on when you arrive you can stay the night in Marrakech and
enjoy the legendary Djemmna El Fna and the next day take the
SupraTours bus to Essaouira. Please make sure to email me to let me
know that you are coming. It is possible to book taxis directly to
Essaouira costing about $80.00 USD.
Places to stay
There are many hotels and Riads in Essaouira. I suggest booking
online or with a travel agent before going though It is also quite
easy to find a place upon arrival. All types of accommodations are
available from luxurious to basic budget.
